An age worthy, varietal expression of Pinot Noir showing our wonderful Alpine Valleys wine region. Enticing aromas of ripe cherry, Forest fruits, and lifted florals blend with spicy toasted oak. The palate reveals rich, complex flavours of juicy cherry, boysenberry and roasted coffee complemented by palate weight and texture, fine acid backbone and a long, spicy thoughtful finish.
Enjoy this wine with a healthy serving of creamy duck liver Pâté served on rustic Pain campagnard bread.
The fruit for the Pinot Noir was picked on 27th February at 13.0° baumé. We harvested the fruit in the cool of the night to preserve the natural flavours and aromas. The grapes were crushed to tank and cold soaked for 5 days. The wine was then warmed and fermented with a special Burgundian yeast at warm temperatures to extract colour, flavour and varietal aromatics. It was pressed off to French oak barrels and received extended ageing stirring on fine yeast lees contributing extra depth and complexity, allowing a full integration of aromas and flavours to give a palate that exudes great varietal expression, length and finesse.
THE VINTAGE
The 2024 vintage, shaped by climatic challenges, showcases the skill and resilience of our winemaking team, estate vineyards and grower partners. A wet spring led to a warm, sunny vintage period that was condensed and completed by Easter. While yields were down 20% against long-term averages, the quality of both sparkling, white and red wines excelled, with aromatics, flavours and acidity promising a year of outstanding wines. Our 2024 wines are reflective of their variety and respectful of sense of place, while displaying structure and age worthiness, continuing our pursuit of winemaking excellence.
