Our Chief Winemaker Andrew Santarossa selected our Valley Selection 2023 Sauvignon Blanc as his current favourite drop: “This variety can be misunderstood but what I love about this wine is that is shows all of the lovely levels of complexity and dimension in an aromatic orchestra.”

Subtle hints of coriander seed, yuzu zest, and basil add intriguing complexity. On the palate, enjoy a medley of orchard fruits, green apple, and passionfruit, complemented by a racy acid backbone and mineral elements for a perfect balance of ripe fruit, complexity, and character.
The fruit for our Valley Selection 2023 Sauvignon Blanc was sourced from Baxendale’s Vineyard, established in 1988 in the cool climate region of the King Valley. The vineyard's high altitude and sloping topography offer cooler daytime temperatures, reducing frost risk and enhancing air movement. The iron-rich, free-draining soils support robust vine root systems, and close vine-spacings, arched cane system and vertical shoot-positioning of the leaf canopy ensure that grapes ripen evenly and completely.
Our meticulous winemaking process began with early morning harvesting to capture the grapes at their peak. After 12 hours of extended skin contact, only the light free run juice was used. Fermentation took place in French oak barrels, with a careful regimen of stirring to enhance complexity. The result is a wine of remarkable depth and balance, ready to enjoy now or cellar for years to come.
