Gapsted Estate 2024 Harvest Diaries - 5th Edition
Bringing the 2024 Grape Harvest to a finish.

This will be our last instalment as we come to the end of the 2024 Grape Harvest. One of the most condensed vintages on record. What would normally be harvested over an 8 week period has come in in 4 weeks. As we look back over the sparkling, white and red parcels that have entered the winery, the winemaking team are impressed and excited by the power, elegance and balance – all the hallmarks for an age-worthy vintage. As the wines finish fermenting, we will start the assessment of each of the parcels and they’ll enter the next phase of maturation as they are released over the next 6 to 24 months.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to the entire Gapsted team for their overall dedication to the Gapsted Estate pursuit of wine excellence.

“Now wines are wonders; great wines are magical; and winemakers are mad. Like horse fanciers, they are always trying to improve the breed.” – William E. Massee

2024 Vintage Crew - Introducing Lisa & Jess
This was Lisa & Jess’s first vintage; they ended up at Gapsted Estate after Jess met Rosalia while working the ski season and put her in touch with our winery manager Greg. Lisa has really enjoyed learning a lot, working with a great group of people and living in this beautiful area. Lisa’s been doing seasonal work for four years now and has loved taking part in vintage as part of her seasonal rotation of jobs and would love to do more in the future. Lisa is also a very talented artist, creating an amazing hand drawn design for our 2024 vintage crew t-shirts!

Jess has always wanted to try winemaking but was unsure how to get into it, so it was serendipitous when Lisa made the connection with Rosalia. Her interest in wine began while living in British Columbia which is a renowned wine region in Canada. Jess was a carpenter in Canada and has really enjoyed learning another ancient artform – winemaking. The best part of the job for Jess has been learning the whole process of how the wine is made, from the grapes to the finished wine.

Lisa & Jess are headed back to Canada after vintage to enjoy another Summer.
