The next new varietal in or Valley Selection Limited Release range is the Italian varietal Primitivo. The rustic variety is traditionally big and fruity with high alcohol and heady fresh blackberry jam aromas that entice you to dive right in.
Our inaugural release Valley Selection 2021 Primitivo is all this and more and, along with our new Monte, it has become a staple amongst our winery staff. We can’t wait for you to try it!
Here’s what winemaker Toni Pla Bou has to say: “The Valley Selection 2021 Primitivo is a heady wine that shows great generosity and richness. Primitivo is a variety grown in the Puglia region of southeast Italy and it has great individuality and uniqueness. The wine shows a full gamut of aromas and flavours from thyme, oregano and black tea to black cherry, boysenberry and blackcurrant. The palate is full bodied with mouth filling chalky structure that matches well with gnocchi with four cheeses, butter chicken or spicy roast lamb. The Primitivo will age well for at least 5 years.”
