“Our Durif has always been a more restrained and elegant expression of the variety given it is grown in the cooler Alpine Valleys and our 2021 vintage is no exception. Durif can be a bold alcoholic tannic wine when grown in warmer climes. However, when grown in cooler parts, it gathers complexity, vibrancy and is a more civilised incarnation of the Durif grape variety. Our Durif shows juicy blackberry and blackcurrant aromas and flavours, coupled with a fine yet firm tannic grip. The fruit is vibrant from the natural fresh alpine acidity, and there is cool climate complexity manifesting itself in flavours of marjoram, tarragon and lavender. Our Durif is an illustrious example of the variety, distinctive due to its vineyard location. Durif ages extremely well and this wine will easily last 10 years and then some. I always like to pair Durif to Mediterranean food, be it Moroccan tajine, Greek slow roasted leg of goat, or Turkish Iskender Kebab.” Toni Pla Bou, Senior Winemaker
