Toni's Wine of Choice

The High Country 2023 Pinot Gris is winemaker Toni's wine of choice, describing it as the essence of the Alpine Valleys in a glass. Rich quince and apple compote aromas, a velvety texture, and fine elegance make it the perfect companion for a seafood misto and a leisurely afternoon shared with friends.

But what on earth is he drinking out of??

"I was using a Porrón de Vino, a traditional Spanish wine pouring vessel usually made of glass. It engenders collegial drinking accompanying food, but it does take some skill to use.  My particular porrón is a family heirloom that is leather embossed with scenes from the Spanish novel, Don Quixote: The Man from La Mancha. The tale of Don Quixiote is about a man who becomes delusional after reading too many novels on chivalry.  He tries to save his imaginary damsel in distress, Dulcinea, by amongst other things, slaying a dragon (that is in truth only a large windmill). A complex novel with numerous themes that make illuminating observations on the Spanish psyche and society."
