TOP GOLD - 2023 Halliday Cabernet Challenge
GOLD - 2023 Royal Queensland Wine Show
"King Valley cabernet undergoes a smooth, oak-enhanced makeover, which ends up delivering one smart, approachable red. Deep purple–garnet in colour and fragrant in blackcurrant, blackberry, acacia, rosehip and earth with an attractive, leafy herbal presence. Holds its ripeness well, trim and tannin clean throughout. Dark chocolate, spicy oak brings an added layer of interest and length." 92 points Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion website
VINEYARD REGION: King Valley
THE WINE: This wine displays a bright crimson colour. The nose shows ripe blackberry and mulberry fruit with hints of roasted coffee and vanilla pod. A rich and intensely full-flavoured palate brimming with blackcurrant, blackberry, bay leaf, and a hint of liquorice. Aged for 18 months in a blend of new and old French oak, the oak delivers cinnamon, nutmeg, cedar, vanilla and toast with a palate that has a fine structure, a depth of complex flavours and persistence. This Cabernet is a youthful wine with fresh fruit characters along with integrated fine grained tannins that will allow it to age gracefully for up to 15 years.
