Gapsted Estate 2023 Harvest Diaries 8th Edition

This will be our last instalment as we come to the end of the 2023 Grape Harvest. As we look back over the sparkling, white and red parcels that have entered the winery, the winemaking team are impressed and excited by the freshness, intensity, harmony and balance – all the hallmarks for a vintage of distinction and class. The yields are lower than the 2021 and 2022 vintages, a trilogy of cool and mild vintages. As the wines finish fermenting, we will start the assessment of each of the parcels and they’ll enter the next phase of maturation as they are released over the next 6 to 24 months.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the entire Gapsted team for working to inspire others and their overall dedication to the Gapsted Estate pursuit of wine excellence. We look forward to sharing a drink together at the 2023 Vintage party!

MEET OUR 2023 VINTAGE CREW!

All Gapsted Staff were invited to spend a day working Vintage and Evarné from Payroll & Accounts jumped at the chance. Evarné thought it was a great opportunity to understand the whole process of Vintage, what everyone’s roles are and how we make wine. She really enjoyed being outside and getting to know the crew. Doing their wages, she knew all their names, but it was nice to spend time with them and get to know their personalities – they are a great bunch! Evarné found it all really interesting being on the tools and helping but her favourite parts were doing the daily ferment tasting with the winemakers and she found the lab work really interesting, making her want to dust off her old schoolbooks! Based on the ferment tastings, she is most excited about the upcoming 2023 Chardonnay, as we all are! We're so glad you enjoyed your time on the vintage crew Evarné!
