Valley Selection 2021 Montepulciano

  • $30.00
  • $30.00

"Deep ruby with a bright nose of plums, cola, and graphite. Firm but fine-grained tannins are noticed immediately but the fruit weight is up to the challenge and the deep spices add character and appeal. Good length and flow to a drying finish." SILVER 92 points Stuart Knox, The Real Review

“Lots of everything here – sweet berry fruit, spicy oak and tannins.” 91 Points Winestate Magazine Emerging Varietals Wine Show

"A great example of the rise of Mediterranean grape varieties in Australia, montepulciano brings an easygoing nature to a glass of wine. The '21 boasts immediate charm in bright purple-cerise hues and a perfume that sings in cherry, red plum and cranberry fruit with a lift of fresh violets. Plenty of fruit, spice and olive tapenade savouriness, keen acidity keeps the palate linear and super-fresh right to the end. Love to see how it ages, but I don't think I can wait that long." 90 points Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion website

VINEYARD REGION: King Valley

THE WINE: This wine displays a dark inky red colour. This wine exhibits all the characteristics of a high-quality vintage. It has excellent tannin ripeness and a wonderful depth of fruit flavour. The nose is complex with blackcurrant, violets, plums and toasted oak. The palate has great presence, with an abundance of blackberry, stewed plums, offset by sweet spicy oak.

FOOD MATCHES: Pair with ricotta ravioli in a rich tomato sauce, swordfish with tomato, olive and capers or rich glazed pork spare ribs.
