GOLD - 2022 Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show
SILVER - 2022 Victorian Wine Show
This wine displays a deep burgundy colour. The wine shows a full gamut of aromas and flavours from thyme, oregano and black tea to black cherry, boysenberry and blackcurrant. The palate is full bodied with mouth filling chalky structure.
“Smells of apple pie and rhubarb crumble! Has plenty of flavour sitting in the spicy/savoury spectrum with intense tannins.” 95 Points (Equal Top in Category) Winestate Magazine Emerging Varietals Wine Show
"Medium ruby red with a very fragrant nose of cherries, dried herbs and anise spices. Palate offers powerful cherry fruit and amaro herb notes. Firm structural tannins keep it focused and drive it quite long although some heat lingers into the finish." Stuart Knox, The Real Review
Ripe, powerful, muscly and just a little challenging – light the barbecue, as this calls for something protein rich. High alcohol (15.5%) and sweeping tannins, but the fruit is up to the job with blackberry, bramble, plum jam, five-spice, star anise, cinnamon, chocolate and vanilla. On the larger, wilder side of things, yes, but finishes clean with no hot alcohol in sight. Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion website
