GOLD - 2023 International Cool Climate Wine Show
This wine displays a bright yellow colour with green hues. The nose shows a unique combination of fresh lime, honeysuckle, nectarine and subtle tropical fruit. These aromas lead to a textural and lively palate with hints of stonefruit, lychee and fragrant spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon.
"Crushed, pressed, free-run juice to fermentation in old French barriques and one new barrique for subtle new oak characters. Sensitive winemaking here, allowing the expressive grape full rein while enhancing both flavour and texture with just a splash of smooth, gentle, vanillin oak input. Expect melon, stone fruits, pear, citrus and apple aromas. Spice and a light herbal interplay bring an added dimension to the palate, and what texture! Fiano has a big future in the King Valley. More, please!" 93 points Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion website
“Perfumed, honeyed fruit and sweet blossoms. Melon skin, honeysuckle, pears, almonds. And although it smells rich, the palate is taut, driven by acidity and brine, with a grapefruit twist. Flowing, lean to start, unfolding in the backplate with lemon curd and cinnamon spice. Fresh style with interesting texture.” 90 Points Kasia Sobiekiak, The Winefront
"The colour is very light and bright, and there’s a hint of almond on the nose, plus a suggestion of smoked smallgoods. The wine is reserved and very dry, straightforward and fresh, the finish loaded with saline/mineral touches and a firm, dry, lasting follow-through." 90 points Huon Hooke, The Real Review
