Gapsted Estate 2023 Harvest Diaries 4th Edition

The glorious mild run of Autumn weather had continued before of a night of rainfall has led to a small break. This will help the vines achieve some balance before we commence picking again on Friday. The team is using the next couple of days (still long hours and hard work), to catch up and also reflect on how this amazing harvest has unfurled after months of anticipation and emotions. The last of our Prosecco and Chardonnay are due in this week leaving only a couple of emerging white varieties to slowly ripen – Grand Manseng and Pinot Blanc. Early next week we start taking in our traditional and alternative red varieties. These wonderful conditions will ensure that we maintain maximum freshness and acidity, but have that important combination of ripe flavours and tannins.

MEET OUR 2023 VINTAGE CREW!

Matan and Talya are from Israel, fresh out of the army where Talya was working as a volunteer and Matan was in the paratroopers. They are taking a year off before studying to work and travel and have landed at Gapsted for their first vintage. They are enjoying working with the team and learning a lot. After vintage they head to New Zealand and then back to Queensland to explore more of our beautiful country.
