Our Gapsted Estate Wine Club Quarterly Taster Packs Have a Fresh New Name
From this release onward, we're renaming our packs to reflect what's happening in the vineyard and winery throughout the year. It’s a small change that brings you a little closer to the rhythm of our winemaking journey.
This season’s pack is called Budburst. Named after the magical moment when our vines awaken from winter and the first green shoots emerge. It's the gentle beginning of a new vintage.
We’re also celebrating two exciting new releases this quarter. For the first time, Pinot Noir joins the Valley Selection range and is available in the Mixed and Red Packs. While the Mixed and White Packs feature an exclusive pre-release of our newest Valley Selection Chardonnay vintage, not yet available to the public.
Our Valley Selection 2024 Pinot Noir was harvested at peak ripeness. The low-yielding grapes underwent a 5-day cold soak, followed by a 14-day fermentation using a specialised Pinot Noir yeast, with gentle daily pump-overs to enhance colour and tannin. The wine was matured in French oak (38% new) for 14 months after malolactic fermentation, resulting in aromas of lavender, incense, dark cherry, and sweet oak. On the palate, it’s silky and powerful with layers of cherry, mulberry, spice, and cocoa.
Our Valley Selection 2024 Chardonnay was picked in the cool early morning, using only free-run juice for this single vineyard release. Fermented in French oak barrels (35% new) and matured on lees for 14 months, this wine offers intense aromas of citrus blossom, lemon, nectarine, and grilled nuts. The creamy texture and refined acidity carry through to a long, precise finish.
